Plan to attend one of the many Blended Learning Bootcamps this summer. The DSD Professional Development team is offering multiple locations around Ohio and in Nebraska for educators a chance to get started with the blended learning process. The bootcamps are all hands-on sessions where the participants get to pick their own track, move at their own pace, and have the ability continue working on the concepts from the bootcamp long after the sessions have ended. Click here to learn more about the Blended Learning Bootcamps. What does the "Station Rotation Blended Learning" look like in an inner city third grade math and language arts classroom? For the last four months, I, Marcia Kish, have been working with a team a teachers from Leawood Elementary School in Columbus City School district on how to implement the station rotation blended learning model. The two teachers, Kuhn and Williamson have spent a lot of time reconstructing their traditional classroom into a blended learning environment. Because of their effort and willingness to be innovative, the student engagement has been off the charts since they have started to use the blended learning method. (Student academic growth has also been measured throughout the process, we are just waiting to get back data from the NWEA test to see how much growth the students have made over the last four months) Below, you will find video examples of the math classroom as well as photos of the students working in the environments. If you would like to visit the two classrooms fill out the form below and we can set up a time for you to see a sample of blended learning in an inner city school district.
